Trick or Treat Tuesday Giveaway Week Three

One of our favorite shows is Word World.
(Click on the link for the WordWorld interactive site.)
If you have wee ones it is a fantastic show on PBS where
"words co
me alive."
This is a description of Word World taken from the
PBS parent's site:
"WordWorld aims to fascinate children with words and to inspire a love of words and reading. Featuring loveable, silly characters called WordFriends who embark on adventures in a world of words, WordWorld encourages presch
oolers to see words as their friends, too."

We were lucky enough to find a couple of dvds on our trip ~ Welcome to WordWorld and Race to Mystery Island. I wish we found more. If you've seen them around here let us know, I'd love to pick up the rest for CD!!

This week's Trick or Treat Tuesday is:
WordWorld
Spooky Kooky Halloween.
Leave us a comment and we'll make the draw on Friday!
Good Luck!

Trick or Treat Tuesday Giveaway Week Two

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving spending time with loved ones, family & friends
or enjoying the long weekend doing what makes you happy.

We made a trip down to ND to spend some family time together, check out the zoo, swim in the hotel pool
and of course do some shopping.
The girls came home with a plastic tub full of clothing and some fun snacks that we don't get up here. We thought we should share so this week we are making two draws...

one for the Candy Corn flavour Hershey kisses

and one draw for the Carmel Apple Hershey Kisses.

I'm sad to report that we found NO Pumpkin Spice Kisses this year... that's how good they are!! None in Bismarck nor Minot!! Maybe next time!!!

Leave us a comment to
let us know which you'd prefer and how you'd use them.
We'll make the draw on Friday am before school
.
Good Luck!!

Somebody's Watchin' Me

We've been thinking how to start decorating for Halloween.
I didn't really want to pull everything out yet so we started with this:

The girls just added googly eyes to our photos around the house.

Sometime this week we'll pick up some plastic spiders and fun tac and do this:

Not much else around here.
I've been laying around, blog surfing while trying to rest and recover from pneumonia.

Halloween Party

Halloween Party

We enjoyed our afternoon with some special friends and had a lot of fun!We enjoyed our gruesome treats that I made with Saucy the day before,I added some mini cupcakes too.

The guests made haunted gingerbread houses, played games (the favorite was when I read a story book and everytime I said "Frankenstein" they had to pose with arms up and standing tall, everytime I said "dead ant" they had to lay on the floor with their hands and feet up.) We made glow in the dark ghost goo using this.
(The short instructions are get Glow Away from Michaels. Mix 1 part white glue with 1 part water, and a squirt of the glow away in one container. In another container mix 1 part borax with 6 parts water. Stir the glue mixture into the borax mixture. It will immediately get slimy. Take it out and knead a bit to remove most of the water. Store in a baggie and have fun.)

Special thanks to Miss Saskatoon 1987 and Miss Calgary 1989 who came to help out! You sure did surprise me!!! Better get working on the jacket for Sunday AV!

Pumpkin Pie Blizzard

Moto-Moto took CJ out for a dessert date this evening.
He misses his little girl now that she is in school full time and is trying fit in "dates" with her on the weekends.
I am so lucky to have such a caring man for a husband.
He treats the girls like the princesses that they are!
And I LOVE IT!

He brought me home a treat too:

We usually just pick up a little special container of ice cream at the grocery store to enjoy because we are too thrifty to buy ice cream elsewhere. But I have to say I'm glad he brought this for me.
It is too YUMMY!

Halloween Decor & Giveaway

We pulled out the Halloween Countdown on the 1st and have filled it with little treats, prank treats ("eye" bouncy balls, plastic spiders & rats), jokes and special coupons for the girls. CJ has been telling everyone her latest joke:

What do witches use to keep their hair in place while flying?

"Scare spray!"
Hahahaha

We made some very easy decorated blocks.

(We've seen these a few places, sorry I don't remember where exactly,
likely some examples on twopeasinabucket.)

Viki saved us her 2x4 scraps when she made her garage.
Painted them up with some acrylic paint,
mod podge on some Halloween scrapbook paper,
cut out some letters to mod podge on top
AND
done!

This "eek" set CJ & CD have created just for you!!
CD says "Mommy 'care (scare) me!"

Leave a comment and we'll give them away on October 17th!

Halloween Charm Party

I spent yesterday afternoon with a great group of crafty ladies.
Saucy & Sassy hosted a Halloween Charm Swap which was
"spook-tacular"!!

Look at all the goodies on this bracelet!! I made the Michael Jackson Thriller album cover shrink art and the little bones (made from dollar store candy) following Saucy's tutorial found here.

No Saucy event would be compete without cupcakes:

These little test tubes were embellished with rub-ons and filled
with Halloween sprinkles for our hostesses
(and one extra for a give away.)
Saucy always has prizes!

Can't wait until the next time we all get together!
You can read more about our party on Saucy's blog.
Thanks again ladies!
My bracelet is "BOO-TIFUL"!

Happy Halloween

What a beautiful night it was to enjoy trick or treating with the girls. I sure don't remember it ever being like that when we went out. All our costumes were designed to be worn over snowsuits. (Ha) Here are the girls ready to go on our rounds to visit some of our friends. (Thanks to Baba for making CJ's tiger costume & one for her puppy friend.)

Then we joined our friend and took the dogs out with us. I don't know if CD & Thompson were thrilled with their costumes at this point.

CJ & Hudson on the other hand were ready to pose.

All through collecting and time for supper.

This is one of the least balanced and nutritious meals I've ever made for CJ, but it was a special day. We had mashed potatoe ghosts, (dry rib) bones, mummy-dogs, salad & spiced witches brew (raspberry juice & gingerale).

Dessert was brownies topped with the chocolates that CJ helped make.

It sure was a nice first Halloween for CD!

Halloween Fun

This weekend we were busy with all kinds of Halloween Fun. Saturday we did some experiments with this:

CJ was thrilled with her witch's potion.

Then we made this little unit to make "ghost bubbles."

The picture doesn't do them justice but, the CO2 fills up the bubbles and if you are wearing gloves you are able to hold and bounce them! It was lots of fun.

Here's where I got the idea from www.stevespanglerscience.com/product/boo-bubbles. If you click on the video you'll be able to watch how they are made.

Today we were off to a Halloween Party hosted by Sweet Sassy and Baby Boo. Here`s CJ with her hostess gifts:

Sassy went over the top for us to have a great Halloween Howler! There was a photo shoot set up for some great Halloween Photos.

Games

Dancing - CJ learned all kinds of new moves - the Moonwalk, the Sprinkler, the Shopping Cart, and the Monster Mash.

Crafts

And there was so much FOOD! Check out her blog soon to see more photos! Sassy, it was amazing! I`m glad we were able to come, thanks for having us! We are so glad to have made some new friends!
