Backyard Angry Birds

Angry Birds is one of our favorite
ipad games (and Cut the Rope)
so when I saw this birthday party idea, I knew we had to try it at home.

We had no trouble rounding up some empty boxes.
Borrowed some balls and used painter's tape to put on the faces. Moto-Moto rigged up a sling shot using some bungee cords and a plastic bowl...

With every shot the waiting crowd made the sounds of either the bird or the pig

Looks like this little girl enjoyed her day!!
(As did her Daddy!)

{Spa}wesome Birthday Party!

Just say '{spa}aaahhhhhh!"
What a relaxing birthday party!!
We lit candles, played relaxing {spa} music
and darkened the room...
Guests arrived and were walked through how to apply their facial masks.

Then they soaked their tired feet and were
treated to a pedicure.
They decorated flip flops with lime green and
pink fabric and ribbons so they'd
have something to wear home as their pedicures dried.
They also had a little hair flair added thanks to our friend Saucy.

Gift opening was determined by 'spin the nail-polish bottle.'

Vanilla cupcakes with lime green and pink vanilla butter cream frosting mmmm!

Guests took home a personalized bottle of water
(thanks Sassy)
and a 'slice of birthday cake' filled with lime green and pink Jellybelly beans, personalized kisses, a lip gloss and a lime green and pink cupcake necklace
that CJ made for each guest.
(We'll post the goodies tomorrow.)

CJ had a great day and said "it was the best day of her life!!"

Halloween Party

Halloween Party

We enjoyed our afternoon with some special friends and had a lot of fun!We enjoyed our gruesome treats that I made with Saucy the day before,I added some mini cupcakes too.

The guests made haunted gingerbread houses, played games (the favorite was when I read a story book and everytime I said "Frankenstein" they had to pose with arms up and standing tall, everytime I said "dead ant" they had to lay on the floor with their hands and feet up.) We made glow in the dark ghost goo using this. (The short instructions are get Glow Away from Michaels. Mix 1 part white glue with 1 part water, and a squirt of the glow away in one container. In another container mix 1 part borax with 6 parts water. Stir the glue mixture into the borax mixture. It will immediately get slimy. Take it out and knead a bit to remove most of the water. Store in a baggie and have fun.)

Special thanks to Miss Saskatoon 1987 and Miss Calgary 1989 who came to help out! You sure did surprise me!!! Better get working on the jacket for Sunday AV!

Fairy Party 2008

We've been busy girls but having so much fun! Last weekend we had a
family BBQ and celebrated the Sprout's First Birthday!
We are busy planning CJ's 6th birthday~ Hannah Montana theme.
Here's what we did for her 5th last year:

We started the morning with Chocolate Birthday Waffles!

The invitations were super simple.

The poem says:

Come to where the fairies roam,
A beautiful place they call their home.
The happy fairies will dance and play
To celebrate CJ’s 5th birthday!

Favor bags with fairy dust and other little treasures in organza bags.

The fairy wand is Rice Krispie treats dipped in pink chocolate and sprinkles with the note that reads "Thank you for the gift, it was fairy sweet of you!"

Fairy cake (of course) with flower cupcakes.

My dear cousin picked up this little fairy costume for CJ.
(She also found me a pink grad gown from the 80's which I didn't get around to wearing!)

We made toad stools for the girls to sit on for lunch but played
Musical Toadstools first.

A Fairy hunt ...

Lunch was leaf shaped sandwiches, veggies, strawberry lady bugs and
Fairy fizz punch. We rimmed the glasses with pink sugar and put
Pop rocks in the bottom of the glasses so when the punch was poured in
it started to crack and snap. The girls thought it was pretty magical!

A flower ribbon pull pinata... didn't think it was right to have a bunch of
fairies bashing at at pinata!

It is always so much fun planning her parties! I think she has themes picked until she is 10!

It's hard to believe a year has gone past already! Kindergarten farewell this month and then off to grade one in the fall!! Wow! You sure have grown up quickly! We are so proud of you!!

Happy Birthday Moto-Moto!

Yesterday Moto-Moto celebrated his birthday Dino-style ! CJ decided that he should have a dinosaur party "not because he's old, because I'm studying dinosaurs at school." So, we planned a picnic trip to the University and had lunch in the "Dinosaur Building" (Geology Building) among the dinosaur fossils.

We wanted to make a huge sub so we baked our bread in this ...

We wanted to decorate him more with cucumbers for spikes and other veggies but Moto-Moto doesn't like them so this is what he ended up looking like...

CJ also made and iced dinosaur cookies for dessert... she even made extra to share with her class tomorrow on their last day of dinosaurs.

We love walking around the University and we LOVE Moto-Moto...

Back at home CJ planned to free a dinosaur from the Ice Age, notice the protective eye wear ~ that's my girl~safety first!

Moto-Moto wanted brownies with peanut butter for his cake so we mixed some mini reeses cups into the batter and topped it with a Dinosaur! EASY!!

Valentine's Day Party

CJ had a few friends over for a Valentine's Party today. She hasn't seen some of her daycare friends for awhile since Daddy stays home in the morning to play with the girls and I'm home in the afternoon. When the girls first got here we played: CJ has been waiting to play Twister with someone who is way more flexible than her Mom! None of the girls had played before but were anxious to try and had a great time!!

Craft time ~ we decorated our "Love Shacks". We didn't make any gingerbread houses at Christmas time so I pulled out our gingerbread village cookie cutters (found at a garage sale for $3) and made a little shack for each of the girls. I think they ate as much candy as ended up on their shack!

Viola, finished "Love Shacks". You're all singing the song right now aren't you!?

"Valentine Colours" was our next game, thanks D for the idea, the girls loved it! We started with "pink", player one touches something pink and sits down. Player two touches the pink item selected by player one then a pink item of her own, player three touches items by player one and two and one of her own etc, etc. Lots of fun! Then we played "Pink heart, pink heart, who has the pink heart?" (Our Valentine version of "Button, Button").

Snack was little heart shaped chocolate bowls filled with strawberries topped with whipped cream and their initial. I'm quite happy with how the bowls turned out. I picked up the heart silicone form at Dollarama (it was a dollar) then poured a couple of tablespoons of melting chocolate in it and brushed it up the sides. A couple minutes in the freezer to set up and carefully released them. The initial topper was an idea from pal Saucy . And of course they had "love potion" in pink sugar rimmed cups.

We ended with The Frog Prince puppet show and some giggles!! Hope you girls had fun!
