Pumpkin Pie Blizzard

Moto-Moto took CJ out for a dessert date this evening.
He misses his little girl now that she is in school full time and is trying fit in "dates" with her on the weekends.
I am so lucky to have such a caring man for a husband.
He treats the girls like the princesses that they are!
And I LOVE IT!

He brought me home a treat too:

We usually just pick up a little special container of ice cream at the grocery store to enjoy because we are too thrifty to buy ice cream elsewhere. But I have to say I'm glad he brought this for me.
It is too YUMMY!

Family Holiday

We spent a weekend enjoying a little bit of Alberta.
We took the girls to Drumheller to the dinosaur museum since CJ learned all about them. CD didn't really enjoy it so much, "Mama, 'saur tare(scare) me! Roar." It was a lot to take in! We also stopped to see the World's Largest Dinosaur in downtown and had a look at the Hoodoos.

In Calgary we spent a day at the zoo. It was incredible!! I love the eyelashes on the giraffes! And being from the Canadian Prairies I had no idea how big hippos were... they are HUGE!
We saw a baby gorilla ~ C.U.T.E!!!!

The next morning before heading home we went to Telus World of Science. It was amazing! The girls had so much fun! They had some digital pond that would make ripples when you walked on it, a floor you could walk on and make musical sounds, a virtual plane to fly, a theatre where you could put on a play, change your costumes, control the lighting, change the set ~ it was great. Moto-Moto and I had lots of fun there.
Lots of science experiments. Physics problems and experiments. A toddler room with busy-beavers water play, a climbing structure, a store to play in.
An interactive Robert Munsch diplay.
That place was SO much fun!! We went right in the morning when it opened and had the whole place to ourselves!! It was super! OH, Moto-Moto and I even tried to lay on a bed of nails!! Too cool!

Waskesiu

Waskesiu

We enjoyed a week at the lake, well the city around a lake! We didn't really "rough-it" though we did spend a week in a VERY small trailer. Fortunately the weather was good and we only spent time inside sleeping and seeking safety from a bear in our campsite one evening.

There was hiking...

playing on the beach ...

and in the lake ...

enjoying the sun... (really, she's only 6!)

evening camp fires...

smores !!

checking out the scenery ...

relaxing ...

time with Daddy ...

"our" family day.

We did an average of the month and dates of our birthdays and found out that it was July 16th. Moto-Moto and I decided that every year on that day we will have ice cream for supper!! CJ didn't believe us until we had ice cream in hand from Big Olafs. It was SO good! The girls decided to have fresh cookies from the bakery for dessert too!!

It was nice to get away but I was really happy to get home to my own bed and away from the BUGS!! (Thanks to AV for taking care of Mac.)

Beaver Creek Hike

We went for a trial hike with the baby backpack for CD.
We were welcomed to Beaver Creek with fresh out of the Solar Oven chocolate chip cookies!! They were delish!

CJ educated us on what she knew about solar energy
and learned a few new facts.

Of course CD was happy because there was food!

I must say that the baby backpack is the way to go when walking on nature trails, last time we tried carrying CD and switching off. This was much easier... well for me anyway! I got to take lots of pictures!

See, I was there too!

We even got to see a beaver taking a break from his den building.

Back up at the interpretive center, the girls stopped to make fish prints!

Disclaimer:
No real, live fish were harmed in the making of this craft,
they used rubber replicas!
(Though I must confess in my Playground Leader
days we did this craft with some from the grocery store fish department! It was when the Spice Girls were popular and all the girls at the park glammed up their fish like their favorite Spice Girl.)

It was quick trip but a fun one!

Back in town we had "fish and chips" for supper.
Tee hee.

CJ sporting her new short hair!!
She decided to go short for the fall and grade one!
She looks so grown up!!
(My darling decided to donate her hair to Locks of Love!!)

Play time with my independent little and not so little girls!

I feel so luck to be a Canadian!
I love this home of ours!
"God keep our land
Glorious and free!"

Happy Father's Day Moto-Moto

We woke Daddy up by frying bacon... mean I know!
But we also prepared Hole in One Eggs,
homemade hash browns & fruit salad to go with it.
We had planned to go out to the Forestry Farm for a picnic but we got some much needed rain instead.

What did Moto-Mot
o do for Father's Day?

Cleaned out the eaves... in the rain.

Later CJ read to him and gave him the washer necklace that she made. As well as her homemade card & 2 ball caps.

Moto-Moto enjoyed a suppe
r of

Oven Roast Potatoes
Blackberry & Avocado Salad
BBQ Pulled Chicken Sandwiches
&
Camouflage Cupcakes for desse
rt (of course)

Thanks for our wonderful daughter's, Moto-Moto!
Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Birthday Moto-Moto!

Yesterday Moto-Moto celebrated his birthday Dino-style ! CJ decided that he should have a dinosaur party "not because he's old, because I'm studying dinosaurs at school." So, we planned a picnic trip to the University and had lunch in the "Dinosaur Building" (Geology Building) among the dinosaur fossils.

We wanted to make a huge sub so we baked our bread in this ...

We wanted to decorate him more with cucumbers for spikes and other veggies but Moto-Moto doesn't like them so this is what he ended up looking like...

CJ also made and iced dinosaur cookies for dessert... she even made extra to share with her class tomorrow on their last day of dinosaurs.

We love walking around the University and we LOVE Moto-Moto...

Back at home CJ planned to free a dinosaur from the Ice Age, notice the protective eye wear ~ that's my girl~safety first!

Moto-Moto wanted brownies with peanut butter for his cake so we mixed some mini reeses cups into the batter and topped it with a Dinosaur! EASY!!

Happy Birthday!
Thanks for sharing your day and life with me!!
We LOVE YOU!
