Back to School

I have had mixed emotions about going back to school this year... I'm sad that summer has come to an end and that I'll be going back to work full time after 1 year on maternity leave and two years of working half time BUT excited to face the challenges that the new school year has ahead. (Plus I'm moving back to work in elementary school again which is a HUGE change from the 'big kids' at high school.) The first 3 days have been incredible! It is exciting to see all the initiatives that are taking place and what a great time to be in education!

NOW to the crafty side of
things....
A friend was about to pay $10 for a fancy clip board while
shopping this summer... whoa sister!! I
can make that!!

The trickiest part was making the
template to go around the clip part.
Here is a great tutorial to follow to make some of your own, maybe a great teacher gift for the first day of school?!

I really like the added detail of the metal label holder on these ones.
There are lots of ideas if you search for them. You could make it more personal by adding the teacher's name or adding ribbons to the top, my friend likes things simple. I think she'll be happy.

Have a great school year!

World's Best Playdough

CJ & I whipped up some playdough for her friends. We pressed them into the stocking shape in our RK box and then put them into bags with the recipe. Super easy, everyone loves it and it's DONE.
Kool-aid Playdough

2 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 Tbsp alum powder
2 pkg Kool-Aid
2 cups boiling water
3 Tbsp oil
(I don't usually measure so you may need to add more flour.)
Mix together, knead for a few minutes and store in a sealed container.
It lasts a LONG time!

Know Where to Find a Pattern?

I decided that we'd make things more personal this year for Christmas and make a lot of our gifts. I enjoy crafting and I know that CJ does too so it made sense to enjoy time together while creating gifts for loved ones. My top two projects are these. Or at least I hope that they will be. I've been searching for FREE patterns all evening, anyone know where to find them?

These are not my girls BUT mine will look adorable in these hats don't you think??

I did manage to find a pattern for these using an old pair of crocs for the sole, I'm thinking the generic kind. I'd really like to figure out a way of using denim for the sole I think.

CJ is planning on making these for her gift giving

Bath bombs but I think we'll try some in candy cane shape, the snowball ones will have a bit of glitter and snowflakes.

Bath Jelly, I think I can round up some cookie dough scent bubble bath to make it with.Snow Cone kits . . . that is if we get any snow!

That's the plan for this weekend. What are you making for gifts this year??
